Phil Recupero was a transmitter site engineer who loved dogs.
Stories We Heard (Source Unknown) There had been a problem with college-age kids getting over the chain-link fence and climbing the (1000') tower to put up bedsheets as flags. Lee Tanner figured the best thing to do was put some trained attack dogs inside the fence. It worked. For a time. Then the flags appeared again. Tanner went out there to see what was up with the dogs. They nearly licked him to death. Phil, who was supposed to keep them fed, watered, and the fenced area clean, had "adopted" them and taught them to love people. Tanner never understood about how lonely it gets at a transmitter site on a rattlesnake infested hill. I believe Phil passed away more than a few years ago.
