George came to WTEV from a radio station in New Bedford. He was hired as a transmitter engineer and located in Tiverton, RI for about three years and than transfered to the engineering Dept in New Bedford.

George retired from WLNE around 1983. He resides in Westport, Massachusetts.

After leaving WTEV, he did some work with a UHF station licensed to Providence, but mostly retired to run a "KOA" campground he had built in Westport.

He died several years ago leaving the campground to his son.

I first worked with George Costa at WALE radio in Fall River. I was a high school kid doing a Sunday 3-11:15pm shift alone. George was hired during that time as the engineer.

I think he was just out of the military. I started at 75-cents per hour but there was a federal minimum wage hike to $1/hour and that was too much for the station. I got laid off and George had the long shift added to his duties at no increase in weekly wage.
