from Rachel LoVerne Apr 12, 2005 Bob moved to Boston, MA in the early 90s where he started a band and was very successful. Bob died from lung cancer on January 2, 2002. from Eric Lander Apr 12, 2005 Bob passed away a couple years ago, but not before leaving a tremendous mark on my life as well as the life of my mother. Submitted by Domenic Cotoia (Access Director – Comcast, Easton, Ma.) Feb 7, 2008 I'm sorry to hear about his passing…..the only other information I had on Bob, was that he also worked for WARA Radio in Attleboro, Ma as an on-air talk show host in the early 90's. He also frequently did some voice over work for the Attleboro, Ma local cable TV (then Inland cable). from by Donna Zappe LoVerne Apr 3, 2009 Bob was my brother. After working at Channel 6 Bob moved to Phoenix, Arizona to become the local weatherman and to host a local talk show on TV. Then off to Cleveland to also do weather and have his own talk show called "ZAP". From there he went to California to act in movies, commercials and own a dinner theatre. You can see Bob as the clown in the Christmas parade in "A Christmas Story". Then in the late 1980's Bob moved back to Boston to be with family. Bob had a wonderful life and is sorely missed by all members of his family. from a YouTube user: Helias Group Sep 24, 2020 In a Youtube comment on Bob's appearance in A Christmas Story Bob also narrated and appeared in an Air Force informational video back in probably ‘93. I can’t find the original, and the only version I have is this version dubbed in Polish. You can see Bob in there! Bob is dearly missed.
There He Is!!
Submitted by Frank Schnorbus Sept 29, 2014 I knew Bob Zappe way back in 1981 or 82 when we both worked for KXTV Channel 10 in Sacramento. It was a CBS affiliate at the time; he was the main weatherman, and I worked in engineering as a maintenance guy. Bob was such a great guy! He would come back and just talk as we worked on all the equipment that it takes to run a TV station. I remember how difficult it was for him when upper management decided not to renew his contract even though the "numbers" showed his popularity with the viewers. Periodically I have thought of him through the phases of life since those days and wondered how he fared. It is so good to see this website letting me know. Thank you for maintaining it! He had a wife at the time, I don't recall her name, who was an actress. I remember her doing a bit where she was telling a story, sitting in front of a mirror and looking at the camera through the mirror as if it was another person sitting all alone with her. It was so good! I remember telling Bob, and he seemed happy and said she enjoyed doing those kinds of pieces. I wish I could find a copy of that video!! Submitted by Connie Rogers Dec 20, 2019 I remember reading somewhere that he was in A Christmas Story....and as I watch it tonight, I searched his name. Bob and I went to Roslindale High School together. We sat beside each other in art class, which we took as a major back then... We were just good friends. Bob was a talented artist. Besides playing guitar and singing. I remember him trying to teach me to play guitar for a school show... Forget it. No talent here! He was a man of many talents. I think he was at our 10th high school reunion..the last time I saw Bob. Shame he was gone so soon. Submitted by Rick Mier, Jan 25, 2020 In the late 70's he had a show ‘ZAP' on WKYC (NBC TV 3) in Cleveland that came on in the 9 AM hour (Today Show didn't run that late ‘in the day'. He had a type of ‘video game' on his show that contestants played, though I can't recall the name of it. He got me thru the Blizzard of '78 as the town was shut down for about 3 days during that January Storm. If I remember correctly, his co-host on Zap was Nanci Glass. I recall being at Cleveland's Public Square during the filming of ‘A Christmas Story' and he was featured in that movie. Great on air personality at WKYC about the time Al Roker was the key weatherman there. | |
