The WTEV call letters are up for grabs. Again. Through the ages it's been passed around in Jacksonville, Florida like a two dollar hooker. The US Navy had it before the New Bedford Standard Times, who launched WTEV-TV in 1963, Channel 6 in New Bedford. Some believe the station on Country Street was cursed. When they excavated the street foundation, the contractor discovered it was the site of an ancient Indian burial ground. When he asked the owners for instructions, he was told, "Dig fast." |
