From Bob Neary, Feb 16, 2010 Jon was the steady rock of production at WTEV. Whether operating camera or as floor manager, Jon insured that things would go smoothly. His presence brought both intelligence and a ready wry sense of humor to every production. Knowing that Jon was assigned to a production was a welcome pleasure. Pure and simple. I knew that everything in the studio would be ready when it was supposed to be ready, and that I could concentrate on other aspects of the production process. Remember Jon often working as floor manager. He excelled in this position because he had both the respect and cooperation of the entire crew, including myself --- plus plenty of experience in production, which often resulted in his offering great solutions to problem situations. Got to know Jon pretty well, (another member of the after 6pm dinner club) and we did keep in contact for awhile. Eventually, life interrupted --as it has a tendency to do, and we kinda lost contact. Was glad to see on this site that Jon explored and found more success along the way. |

| Jon left WTEV in 1977, and returned in 1979 when it was under new ownership and had become WLNE. He stayed with them until 1995 when he left to relax and do freelance TV work. Jon did that for a few years, moved to California for a while, then Northampton, MA, and returned to Providence in 2000. | |

From Jon Foley, July 11, 2010 I stayed at my video producing/directing/editing job at URI until 2005, when the grant money which had funded the job ran out. I stayed around Providence for another year, then in September 2006, I moved out to Sonoma County in California. I'm pretty much retired, at least from full-time work, but if anyone wants to pay me a huge amount of money to edit their project, I'll consider it! | |

A private memorial will be held by his family in Santa Barbara, California. Our sincere gratitude goes out to Tom and Margie who took care of Jon during his last months, we will be forever grateful.  | |

from Jon Foley, Nov 21, 2004 Besides Bassett, Ben Schneider, Hal Gray, Charles Jenkins and others you already have listed on the site, I also worked with Marc Maynard (now at Channel 4), Marc Sarazin, Doug Macomber, Tom Rehkamp (also at Channel 4), and we can't forget Mike Blair and Bob Dow, longtime WTEV-ers who are still at WLNE. Also, you should list Buddy Koster, Brian Alley (both now retired) and Tony Medeiros (now deceased), if you don't have them already. And carpenter George Barboza. As far as directors, I remember Bob Neary. We kept in touch for a short while after he left - I have no idea where he is now (he was in California last time we corresponded). There was John Mason, who I'm still in touch with, Guy Pepper, who went on to great things at CNN, NBC, and essentially created MSNBC, according to information I got from the internet, and of course, Bill Grammas and Dave Langevin. Also, people will probably remember Father Hogan, who produced the Catholic Mass shows, and Rabbi Baruch Korff, who produced the Jewish services. Rabbi Korff died a few years ago in Providence; I don't know about Father Hogan. | |
