WHDH-TV, Boston

Good morning, whoever you are!

I just came across your excellent web site of the old WTEV in New Bedford. I worked there from August 1977 through November 1978 as an engineer. I worked with folks like Tony Santos, who recently retired from WHDH-TV in Boston after 20 years here, Les Brown who I understand is back in Alaska, Pete Birnstein from Amperex Corp. who worked with us on weekends, Rich Fortin, now at Channel 5 in Boston (last I know he was still there), Bob Palmer, John Finlayson, Rene Lyonnaise, Bob Bassett of course (I would occasionally go over to his radio station after work when he did the overnight shift there), George Allen, Ben Schneider the announcer, Tom Aldert, Guy Pepper, and a host of other I can't think of at the moment. Maria (Pedro) Sullivan is working here at channel 7 and has been here for close to 20 years herself. I've been here since November 1978 and am still going strong.

Anyway, I just had to write to you about my brief tenure at WTEV. Which actually, despite being physically employed there for 15 months, started many years prior as when I was working at WSMW-TV in Worcester. I drove our truck to Warwick, RI to provide the remote facilities for "Duckpins for Dollars" hosted by George Allen every Sunday!

Nice to see such a nice site about the ole 'TEV. Keep up the good work!
